BOOK REVIEW: Sex, Not Love by Vi Keeland, Contemporary Romance

SEX, NOT LOVE
A Contemporary Romance Novel
by #1 New York Times Bestselling Author
Vi Keeland

My relationship with Hunter Delucia started backwards.

We met at a wedding—him sitting on the groom’s side, me sitting on the bride’s. Stealing glances at each other throughout the night, there was no denying an intense, mutual attraction.

I caught the bouquet; he caught the garter. Hunter held me tightly while we danced and suggested we explore the chemistry sparking between us. His blunt, dirty mouth should’ve turned me off. But for some crazy reason, it had the opposite effect on me.

We ended up back in my hotel room. The next morning, I headed home to New York leaving him behind in California with the wrong number.

I thought about him often, but after my last relationship, I’d sworn off of charming, cocky, gorgeous-as-sin men. A year later, Hunter and I met again at the birth of our friends’ baby. Our attraction hadn't dulled one bit. After a whirlwind trip, he demanded a real phone number this time. So I left him with my mother’s—she could scare away any man with her talks of babies and marriage—and flew back home.

I’d thought it was funny, until the following week when he rang the bell at Mom’s house for Sunday night dinner. The crazy, gorgeous man had won over my mother and taken an eight-week assignment in my city. He proposed we spend that time screwing each other out of our systems.

Eight weeks of mind-blowing sex with no strings attached? What did I have to lose?

Nothing, I thought.
It’s just sex, not love.
But you know what they say about the best laid plans…

REVIEW: *6* STARS
Vi Keeland cannot write a bad book...EVER. It's not in her DNA. It's like asking water not to be wet. And I honestly don't know how she does it because man, her books keep getting better and better. Sex, Not Love was SO MUCH MORE than what the blurb provides. So. Much. More. And don't get me wrong, the blurb was intriguing, but OMG, this book.

As always, her hero was beyond what the term swoon-worthy could possibly describe. Hunter was not only attractive (and by attractive, I mean flipping HOT), but he was humble, funny, down-to-earth, and had quite frankly, YUMMY. That man had quite the dirty mouth too! *wink* His "baggage" was heart-shattering, though. Not only was the situation by itself sad but then come to find out a detail within that situation...? Wow. I found myself literally saying out loud "oh, my gosh, no!". Vi Keeland evoked a lot of emotions from me with this book. A lot. From laughter to tears, my emotions were all over the place while reading!

Natalia...man, I loved her character! From her sassy remarks to her conversations with Anna (SO DAMN REALISTIC!) to her relationship with her step-daughter, Izzy. Her character was one I connected with and truly enjoyed reading about. I loved that Hunter challenged her, but I loved, even more, how in the end it was her who challenged him.

So, really, I won't say anything about the plot because you need to read it, but just know that Vi Keeland once more hit a home-run. This book was flawless and perfect. It's kicked off my 2018 Top Favorite Books List with a bang!! I was left feeling all-kinds of hungover after finishing this one. SIX STARS.
